Die Evangelische Landeskirche in Baden und die Union der Evangelischen Kirchen in Elsaß-Lothringen freuen sich als Gastgeber auf die in diesem Monat beginnende Vollversammlung des Ökumenischen Rats der Kirchen. Ende August versammeln sich Delegierte aus 349 Kirchen aus allen Teilen der Welt in Karlsruhe.
Landesbischöfin Heike Springhart (Karlsruhe) und Kirchenpräsident Christian Albecker (Strasbourg) haben in einer gemeinsamen Grußbotschaft an die Geschichte der deutsch-französischen Versöhnung erinnert. „Das gute Miteinander der Konfessionen und Religionen, der Kulturen und Nationen war am Ende wohl einer der entscheidenden Gründe, warum sich die Mehrheit der Kirchen für das Grenzland am Rhein als Austragungsort der Vollversammlung entschieden hat“, heißt es in der gemeinsamen Erklärung. Die GEKE-Regionalgruppe „Konferenz der Kirchen am Rhein“, deren Präsident ebenfalls Christian Albecker ist, konnte sich in den Abend der gastgebenden Kirchen einbringen.

Franco-German hospitality for Christians from all over the world
The Evangelical Church in Baden and the Union of Protestant Churches in Alsace-Lorraine are looking forward to hosting the Assembly of the World Council of Churches, which begins this month. Delegates from 349 churches from all parts of the world will gather in Karlsruhe at the end of August.
In a joint message of greeting, Bishop Heike Springhart (Karlsruhe) and Church President Christian Albecker (Strasbourg) recalled the history of Franco-German reconciliation. “The good coexistence of confessions and religions, cultures and nations was in the end probably one of the decisive reasons why the majority of the churches chose the borderland on the Rhine as the venue for the Assembly,” the joint statement reads. The CPCE regional group “Conference of the Churches on the Rhine”, whose president is also Christian Albecker, was able to contribute to the evening of the hosting churches.
