CPCE Pre-conference to the CEC Novi Sad Assembly 2018

From 1 to 2 March 2018, 28 delegates from 22 CPCE Member Churches met in Vienna for a preparatory conference for the Novi Sad Assembly of the Conference of European Churches. The participants were welcomed by CPCE Vice-President Klára Tarr Cselovszky, CPCE Council Member Jan-Gerd Heetderks and CPCE General Secretary Bishop Dr Michael Bünker.

The CEC Novi Sad Assembly will be held under the title “You will be my witnesses” – Hospitality, Justice, Witness, from 31 May to 6 June 2018 in Novi Sad, Serbia. CEC General Secretary Fr Heikki Huttunen and CEC Assembly Coordinator Szabolcs Lörincz gave a detailed insight about the main aims and objectives of the Assembly as well as about the practical organisation. Dr Peter Pavlovic, CEC Study Secretary, introduced the recent CEC process about the discussion on the future of Europe in CEC constituency. The participants were invited to reflect the present results in working groups. It became clear that the CEC Assembly will be significant to define the role of CEC as a service agency to its Member Churches as well as a dialogue partner to European policy, and that the delegates of the CPCE Member Churches in this meeting were looking forward to this debate in Novi Sad.
